Geo-Environmental Consultant/Engineer
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Geo-Environmental Consultant/Engineer, to join our thriving Geo team in our Newcastle office.
The Role
In brief, the work includes the delivery of geo-environmental/ geotechnical services including, but not limited to: design and management of site investigation (including on site supervision, logging and sampling); factual and interpretative report writing and qualitative and quantitative risk assessment. The role includes working as part of integrated project teams of geo-environmental and geotechnical specialist and understanding of related disciplines (civils, structural, transport, air quality, acoustics and flood risk) will be beneficial.
- Working as part of the Geo team to design and deliver geo-environmental and geotechnical consultancy support to a range of clients including property developers, agents, planners, commercial and residential developers
- Assisting in the design and management of geo-environmental and/or geotechnical assignments including desk studies, ground investigations (factual and interpretative), human health, groundwater and gas risk assessments and preparation of Remediation Method Statements, Material Management Plans, Geotechnical Design Reports and other follow on design works.
- Involvement with both site-based fieldwork as well as office-based reporting
- Be aware of the industry and keep up to date with industry news, innovation, changes and share your knowledge with your team.
- Drive to be market leading, ensuring we are one step ahead of the competition.
You’ll be set up for success if you have:
- A BSc, BEng or higher qualification in a relevant subject (geology, civil engineering, environmental science etc).
- 1-2 years of experience in a geo-environmental consultancy role.
- Experience working for a Contractor and/or geotechnical/Geoenvironmental experience would also be highly desirable.
- Good working knowledge of relevant and up to date British Standards (eg BS EN 5930), Industry Guidance (eg EA LC:RM) and NHBC Standards.
- Supervision, reporting and management of geo-environmental assignments.
- Monitoring of gas and groundwater levels and groundwater sampling.
- Liaison with sub-contractors and clients assisting in the delivery of projects.
- Technical report writing (including Desk Studies and Ground Investigation Reports).
- Good understanding of Health and Safety requirements for ground investigations.
- Self-motivated team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
- A proactive and independent thinker with an enthusiastic approach to work.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- CSCS card
- SSSTs or IOSH equivalent site supervisor certificate
- First Aid training
- Cat and Genny trained.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
