An exciting opportunity has emerged for a Graduate Highways Consultant to join our highly successful team based in our Almondsbury office.

Our team works on a variety of projects aimed at improving road networks, promoting sustainable transportation, and enhancing public infrastructure. As an industry leader, we are committed to delivering high-quality, innovative solutions that meet the needs of modern transportation systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design and development of highway and road infrastructure projects, from concept through to detailed design.
  • Work with design software to produce technical drawings and models.
  • Support the preparation of transport assessments, traffic impact studies, and other technical reports for clients and local authorities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure projects meet regulatory standards and client expectations.
  • Contribute to site visits and surveys, assisting with data collection, inspections, and reporting.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant highway design standards and best practices, including the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and Manual for Streets.
  • Assist in project management tasks, including monitoring project progress, preparing documentation, and managing timelines and budgets.

Requirements:

  • A degree in civil engineering, transportation engineering, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of highway engineering principles and an interest in road infrastructure and transport planning.
  • Experience with design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar) is an advantage (training will be provided).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
  • A team player with the ability to collaborate with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Passion for transportation and infrastructure development.
  • Willingness to learn and develop technical expertise in highway design and consulting.
