Four significant buildings, designed by Hydrock, are short-listed for the high-profile south-west Michelmores Property Awards, including the UK Hydrographic Office and Aurora at Finzels Reach, Bristol, which are both short-listed for Building of the Year.
Now in their 17th year, the Michelmores Property Awards showcase and celebrate the best projects across the south-west’s construction and property industry, recognising commercial, residential and heritage projects completed during 2018.
The short-listed schemes that have involved Hydrock are:
- UK Hydrographic Office, Project of the Year (over £5m) and Building of the Year categories. Our civil, structural, M&E, acoustics, fire and transport engineering services were key to the delivery of this stunning new headquarters building for the UK Hydrographic Office in Taunton.
- Aurora at Finzels Reach, Bristol, Building of the Year. Our structural and building performance engineering services were centre stage in the design of this BREEAM Outstanding office development which has now been selected by Channel 4 as the base for its new Creative Hub.
- The Enterprise Space for Advanced Manufacturing (ESAM) in Carluddon, Cornwall, Project of the Year (over £5m). We delivered civil, structural, geotechnical and building services for this flagship BREEAM Excellent development of energy efficient workspaces for low carbon advanced manufacturing businesses.
- Scott Medical & Healthcare College, Plymouth, Education Project of the Year. Our civil, structural, and geotechnical engineering teams designed this new state of the art medical college on a highly constrained and challenging site.
Speaking about these achievements, Matt Hilton, Hydrock’s Managing Director, said: “Michelmores Property Awards continue to be a great showcase of the quality of projects in and around the south west. We are naturally delighted to see four schemes that we are proud to have extensively contributed to short-listed for this year’s awards.”
The awards ceremony is at the Sandy Park Conference Centre, Exeter on 13th June and Hydrock will be strongly represented both in association with these projects and from across our south-west teams as a whole.
