Hydrock helps PegasusLife secure Decision Notice for their latest development
4th Jan 2016
Hydrock has been instrumental in helping PegasusLife to secure a ‘Decision Notice to Grant’ planning permission for a 118-unit assisted living development in Portishead, North Somerset.
PegasusLife is a specialist developer on a mission to fundamentally re-think and re-invent the places and ways in which we live as we get older, driven by the current lack of relevant and motivating options in the UK. Their central idea is that everyone, irrespective of age, shares an aspiration to live independently in a beautiful, socially inclusive and intelligently designed home. As a consequence, they are supporting this with an efficient and ethical approach to property management and a service offer that gives everyone a unique experience based on what matters to them.
This specific Notice was granted recently by North Somerset Council and the development will be known as Marina Gardens.
Hydrock supported PegasusLife through concept design and planning with a multi-disciplinary approach to consider all the different challenges and requirements from this proposed site. This support included input on proposed civil and structural design, M&E design, highways access, geo-environmental studies, drainage strategy, and very importantly a flood risk assessment.
The recent re-modelling of the Environment Agency flood mapping changed the historic requirements for flood protection in the area. This required our flood risk specialists to reassess the new challenges and various scenarios before liaising with the local authority and Environment Agency to ultimately present a successful approach to flood risk mitigation.
With a ‘Decision Notice to Grant’ now secured, PegasusLife, with Hydrock as its core engineering consultant for building performance engineering and civil and structural engineering, will help take forward the planned development as part of their portfolio of beautiful, intelligently designed homes.
PegasusLife take a careful, tailored approach to each development, to ensure it embodies the history, character and personality of its location. They work with the UK’s leading architects, designers and creative thinkers to form unique environments across Britain and Ireland that help people to get what they want out of life.
