We’ve provided Homes England with multi-disciplinary technical and environmental consultancy to help develop the masterplan and support the outline planning application for up to 762 dwellings and 2,289m2 commercial floorspace at New Bond Street in Digbeth, Birmingham.
The framework commission is being led by Avison Young acting as the project manager supported by Hydrock and Allies and Morrison, who are providing architectural services.
Adam Anthony, Hydrock Associate Director of Strategic Projects and Technical Lead on the commission, said:
“Leading our technical streams on this Homes England project and being part of the overall Avison Young team who we’ve partnered with for over a decade now, along with Allies and Morrison, has been a great experience. Fortunately, at Hydrock our various disciplines already work brilliantly together, so my role is simple ‒ensuring our clients feel the benefits of a single point of contact which, as the icing on the cake, is streamlined and efficient delivery.”
Our advice spans a range of engineering services including land quality, flood risk and drainage, transport and highways, air quality, acoustics, wind and microclimate and energy and sustainability.
Homes England’s proposals for New Bond Street would maximise the redevelopment opportunity at this brownfield site and deliver much needed affordable and market housing, set within a sustainable and high-quality canal-side development on the periphery of eclectic Digbeth.
Analysis by Avison Young has identified c.9,000 dwellings and c.180,000 sqm non-residential floorspace in the planning pipeline within the south and east of Birmingham City Centre, demonstrating the growing attractiveness of the city centre as a place to live and invest.
Our appointment continues our track-record of delivering a full suite of multi-disciplinary services to create exceptional places, communities and infrastructure. Other notable examples include our work at Wapping Wharf (Bristol), South Bank (Leeds) and The Bermondsey Project (London).
