We are delighted to announce that we have been commissioned to support on the creation of the development framework for Newquay Council’s Town Centre.
Hydrock is on the project, led by urban design and planning practice Prior + Partners, alongside economic development experts Hatch, and transport & mobility experts Urban Flow.
Our team is supporting the council on this exciting project with advice on engineering master planning, utilities and infrastructure. Our focus will also be on how the project can be delivered in a sustainable fashion and a way that fits the local community’s needs.
The Town Centre Development Framework will set an ambitious vision, spatial framework and investment plan for the town centre, setting a holistic and place-based approach to recovery and regeneration in the town centre.
Jennifer Dixon (Resident and project lead) of Newquay Town Team said:
‘.. we were delighted by the quality of responses to this tender, all of which sought to balance local knowledge and understanding with a broader national and often international perspective. We look forward to watching the Newquay community engage with the selected team to raise and achieve our towns ambitions… This project has been made possible by funding awarded to Newquay Town Council by Cornwall Council’s Town Vitality programme.
The Newquay Town Team are working closely with Newquay Town Council’s officers to ensure that all of the project deliverables are met within the required timescales and they remain in overall financial control.
Newquay Bid’s Chair, Jonathon Start said:
“Newquay BID fully supports this exciting plan and will encourage all BID Businesses to actively engage with the Newquay Town Team to help influence the future direction of Newquay”
Louis Gardner, the Divisional Member for Newquay Central & Pentire commented “it is exciting to see this initiative moving forward to the next stage and there is a great opportunity for Newquay to come together to build a plan for future investment funds as and when they become available.”
Work is commencing in April, with the final outputs expected in September.
