Hydrock wins Consultancy of the Year at the Insider Wales Property Awards
10th Nov 2020Hydrock is delighted to have been awarded Consultancy of the Year at the Insider Wales Property Awards 2020, with our flagship project in Wales, Llys Cadwyn, taking Development of the Year for our project partners Rhomco Consulting.
We opened an office in Cardiff five years ago and our Welsh team has grown from one to 48 employees, making an enormous impact on the city and south Wales area in that time. Our team are passionate about providing innovative engineering solutions that help bring new landmark developments to life and regenerate existing buildings brimming with Wales’ rich cultural heritage.
Some of our team’s key projects include the Llys Cadwyn development in Pontypridd, the expansion of Techniquest science centre in Cardiff and the redevelopment of Hafod Copperworks, Swansea’s Palace Theatre and Port Talbot's former Plaza cinema.
Celebrating Hydrock being named Consultancy of the Year, Technical Director Dan Beynon commented: “We’re really delighted to see our team’s hard work and dedication acknowledged in this way, along with the joint effort that went into bringing the Llys Cadwyn development to life. Our team are passionate about where they live and work, from the local volunteering hours we put in to unlocking complex sites, so that we can ultimately create great places for Welsh people to live, work and enjoy.”
We provided multi-disciplinary engineering services for Llys Cadwyn in Pontypridd, the ambitious redevelopment that was awarded Development of the Year.
Once home to the former Taff Vale Shopping Centre precinct, this distinctive development will now bring hundreds of jobs to the area, acting as something of a catalyst for the town’s redevelopment. It features office space for over 1,000 people, along with a library, gym, activity studio, café and customer contact point. The Insider judges described this £38m redevelopment as "brilliant", leading "the transformation of an iconic Valleys town".
Congratulations are in order to the whole project team, including Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council, Willmott Dixon, Darnton B3 architects and Rhomco Consulting, who led the entry for the development.
Across 14 categories, the Insider Wales Property Awards celebrate the achievements of companies, advisers and individuals from the property and construction sector across Wales.
