Hydrock has been short-listed as a finalist in two categories of the 2019 NCE100 Companies of the Year Awards.
We are short-listed for ‘Health and Wellbeing Leader of the Year’ and for ‘Impact in Transport’.
These high-profile engineering industry awards are run by New Civil Engineer (NCE). All NCE100 companies are recognised by a wide range of independent judges as firms that are driving the industry forward, increasing productivity, driving cultural change and delivering for society in the UK and worldwide.
Speaking about our short-listing in the health and wellbeing category, Dr Brian McConnell, Hydrock’s CEO, said: “We take the health and wellbeing of our staff very seriously. I am personally leading an initiative, in collaboration with our HR team, that focuses on the physical, emotional, financial and social wellbeing of our people. A key element of this is the role our health and wellbeing champions play in each of our 16 offices, flying the wellbeing flag, advocating available support and promoting positive mental and physical behaviours to create a healthy workplace that allows a positive life balance. It’s such an important part of employee engagement and I’m delighted to see our approach recognised in this short-listing for a major industry award.”
James McKechnie, Divisional Director of Hydrock’s transportation business, speaking about being short-listed for an award recognising our ‘impact in transport’, said: “We’re pushing boundaries with our thinking on the strategies for future movement. Some of our R&D work explores the impacts on the way we travel and on air quality and fuel emissions. When we’re advising clients on their long-term vision for masterplan developments, we’re future-proofing to accommodate changing travel behaviours, as well as the demands and potential from electric and autonomous vehicles.”
Before the awards, all finalists will present their short-listed areas of expertise to a judging panel made up of clients, contractors and consultants.
The winners will be announced on 30 April at The Brewery, London.
