Hydrock joins Stantec's Manchester office, strengthening regional presence
4th Dec 2024Stantec and Hydrock’s Greater Manchester teams have come together to support communities from one aspirational workplace
Stantec, a global leader in sustainable engineering, architecture, and environmental consulting, has significantly increased the footprint of its Manchester office at 100 Barbirolli Square, accommodating the growth of its regional presence. Following the acquisition of integrated engineering design firm Hydrock, Stantec has invested in the entire seventh floor of the city centre office, taking up more than 15,500 square feet.
As part of the integration of Hydrock, now Stantec, the expanded office brings around 85 built environment specialists from Hydrock’s existing Manchester and Hale locations under one roof. The move marks Stantec’s first major workplace merger since the acquisition of Hydrock. Stantec now has more than 50 offices across the UK and Ireland as well as some 4,000 employees.
In the north of England, Stantec’s influence spans the entire built environment – with offices in Manchester, Warrington, Stoke-on-Trent, Leeds, and Newcastle supporting public and private sector clients. The Company works with local authorities, developers, housebuilders, energy operators, landowners, and water companies to plan, design and engineer sustainable solutions for the region’s greatest challenges.
Stantec moved into 100 Barbirolli Square in March this year, initially taking up around 10,000 square feet following a period of nationwide expansion. With an exceptional view across Manchester city centre, the office space has been designed with colleague wellbeing and collaboration in mind. The workplace is highly adaptable with multi-functional areas to suit differing working styles and meeting types.
“As we approach our tenth year of operation in Manchester, we’re proud that every Hydrock, now Stantec service offering is available across the North West,” said Danny Hope, Hydrock, now Stantec’s regional director for the North West. “From civil, structural, and mechanical engineering specialists to fire safety, transport planning, energy and sustainability services professionals, the number of team members we have in this region has more than quadrupled over the last six years.”
Danny added:
“As we’ve grown as a business, and since joining the Stantec family, it was time we moved into a modern, creative and aspirational space like this. Our new office is reflective of our capabilities and long-standing industry reputation. We’re already taking advantage of working with our new colleagues to leverage our shared expertise, unlocking complex sites to create high-performing, future-proofed buildings and infrastructure across the country.”
