Following another successful night for Hydrock, we are celebrating the news that three projects we provided engineering services for won awards at the 2019 Michelmores Property Awards last night.
Our flagship project, the UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO) new headquarters won the coveted Building of the Year title, while key projects for Hydrock’s transport team won both Innovative Property Investment Project of the Year and Project of the Year.
Described by judges on the night as ‘the best of all the schemes submitted in this year’s awards’, the UKHO headquarters, in Taunton, is an outstanding example of Hydrock’s successful multi-disciplinary design approach. Our civil, structural, M&E, acoustics, fire and transport engineering services were key to the delivery of this stunning new building. This win follows its excellent track record in winning awards so far this year.
Our transport team had plenty more to celebrate with two project wins. Hydrock’s innovative transport engineering solutions allow our clients and developers to unlock sites and gain planning permission, enabling to fulfil their project vision.
That was certainly the case for The Farmer’s Arms in north Devon, which scooped Innovative Property Investment Project of the Year. This project, funded by high-net-worth individuals, regenerated key services in the village of Woolsery including the local hotel, pub and fish & chip shop.
Hydrock assisted the project in delivering some high-quality, sensitively-designed public realm enhancements. Our transport and civil and infrastructure engineering teams designed a scheme to improve the pedestrian environment, slow vehicle speeds, and provide for the everyday needs of the village in terms of parking and large vehicle movements.
Tolvaddon House , near our Camborne office in Cornwall, won Project of the Year (over £5m). Hydrock delivered transport support in the form of a Transport Assessment and Travel Plan at planning stages.
Transport director James McKechnie said: “To pick up these awards is a real pleasure and is yet another example that demonstrates the design-focussed added-value of our teams across the business, along with our ability to work closely with architects and other partners to ultimately deliver better places for people.”
Congratulations to all winning projects and partners involved.
