Jonathan Derwent

Jonathan is a highly experienced structural engineer and a leading proponent of low-carbon, sustainable design.

Leading Hydrock’s structural engineering team in Plymouth, Jonathan specialises in the delivery of building design projects using the latest BIM tools and designed to the latest Eurocode design standards.

He leads a forward-thinking team of structural engineers whose projects have included academy schools, science and engineering research facilities, high-tech office buildings, complex steel structures for energy to waste plants, niche public buildings inspired by natural structural forms and restoration work on various listed structures.

In addition to project work, Jonathan has delivered presentations for the Institution of Civil Engineers, spoken at industry events on sustainable structures, and provides tutorial assistance to the masters course at Plymouth University Schools of Architecture and Environmental Building.

Jonathan is the long-standing Membership Secretary for Constructing Excellence in Plymouth.
