Hi-tech services design strategy for new corporate HQ
Shaping the design to achieve best-in-class digital infrastructure for Home Group's new six-storey HQ in Newcastle city centre.
Our MEP team have been involved from the early conceptual design stage to support Home Group with the development of their new, six-storey headquarters building in Newcastle city centre.
Home Group is one of the biggest housing associations in the UK delivering new homes and houses for affordable rent in addition to long-term integrated housing, health and social care.
Working collaboratively with Ryder Architecture, the new office headquarters building is adjacent to Newcastle’s iconic Strawberry pub which is a favourite with Newcastle United fans on matchdays, with the site close to St James’ Park stadium.
We took both the Cat A construction and Cat B fit-out to RIBA Stage 3, delivering MEP design and BREEAM services.
Our scope has included the design of a hybrid VRF air-conditioning system with air source heat pumps, and an overall design philosophy that enabled Home Group to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating and an EPC A rating.
Our team were subsequently retained by Home Group to monitor the project on their behalf during construction and fit-out.
One Strawberry Lane completed in late 2022 and won Building Project of the Year at the 2023 Constructing Excellence in the North East Awards.
