Stunning evolution of award-winning, luxury spa hotel

Our MEP team completed two high profile projects at Rudding Park, a privately-owned luxury hotel set in 300 acres of beautiful parkland with 90 bedrooms and suites, destination spa and two golf courses.

We originally worked with DLG architects to deliver the MEP services strategy and a full MEP design service on the new Follifoot Wing. The new wing links to the existing Grade 1 listed hotel buildings, so our designs needed to be both sympathetic to this and enable all existing facilities to remain live, minimising disruption to other hotel guests.

The Follifoot Wing has 48 beautifully appointed bedrooms, five luxury guest suites, a state-of-the-art mini spa, gymnasium and cinema, with all supporting staff and back of house accommodation.

Following the completion of the Follifoot Wing, we were subsequently appointed as both MEP consultant and sustainability consultant on the next phase of development, a £9m, 3,300 sq. m luxury spa facility.

This contemporary spa, designed by Enjoy Design Architects, is cleverly sunken into the existing landscape setting. Over three floors it offers treatment rooms, relaxation spaces, an indoor pool, a variety of saunas, a hair and beauty room, a hydrotherapy pool, steam room, fine dining restaurant, changing rooms and a landscaped roof terrace with a further spa bath and log sauna.

Completed on time and in budget in 2017, our role included the building services strategy, full MEP design and a project monitoring role through the construction phase. We also acted as the sustainability consultant delivering design stage and as-built stage thermal modelling, an EPC, a low and zero carbon technologies feasibility study and we acted as the BREEAM Assessor.

In 2019, Rudding Park won Spa of the Year at the annual AA Hospitality Awards.
